Yes,they all do that sir! The trick is to select 5th first and then straight back into reverse ( clutch depressed of course! )

That is with the later T5 Box, does the 93 model have that or the Rover box?
In which case the reverse is over the other side.
I thought the early ones, like the V8S, are the Rover Vitesse LT77 box out of a SD1
. It does have a sufix as well which I think may be 'G', indicating it has the right ratio's and is strong enough, just incase anyone thinks a standard SD1 box wil do as a repplacement.
All IMHO as I may be confused as per normal
. Anyone else know for certain to clarify

Have you checked the fluid level. Who knows what is lurking under that sealed cover. If it needs topping up you will find that it will go into gear easier. Also if the car is not used everyday, like mine it will pay to change the seals in the master cylinder as they go mushy and fluid gets past. Check in the car at the pedal to see if it is leaking at all.

Had 7 TVRs , all had difficulty selecting reverse without pre-selecting a forward gear first or at least pushing the clutch down to the floor for a few seconds.

Totally agree Tim, having test piloted a few and accompanied many they all do it, but since the clutch change mine isn't doing it at the moment, perhaps it will inside another 500 miles
