Took the top of my dashboard over the weekend for the first time and was expecting it to be a bit of a pig of a job. I had already got some wing nuts as suggested in previous posts.
I was unexpectidely surprised that it took al of 5 minutes and the top was off. A small ring spanner fitted the 3 nuts and the top easily came off with a little bit of bending to get the drivers side stud free.
I checked all of the wiring and relays etc and also the heater cable adjustmenst as this was the main raeson for taking the top off as the heater doesnt seem to turn off completely.
All was well and then came the difficult part . The top and 3 studs fitted back easily enough and 2 of the wing nuts fitted in double quick time. The one at tyhe front was a different matter . There is little room in there and seemed impossible to get the washer on and then the wing nut. I also scrapped my hand on the end of a sharp selp tapper. I fitted the nut and washer on this stud and all is OK.
Whilst messing around in the small space where this stud is located I felt a 'UNIT' which was connected to a small ribbon cable . Does anyone know what this unit is. Just need to know for interest sake or maybe need to know at some time in the future I also dropped a wing nut in this space so I hope that this cant short anything out in there.
Heater still blowing slight warm. Water valve in passenger footwell seemd to turn off completely

3 units with ribbon cables ? depends on your definition of a ribbon cable
( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribbon_cable ) nothing like that under my dash. Unless you have some kind of special alarm

No, it depends on the year of the car: WOO51E's is a 2000, the three ECUs didn't appear until 1997.( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribbon_cable ) nothing like that under my dash. Unless you have some kind of special alarm
