Hi all - I'm trying to find a Chimaera to buy and spotted this one ...

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/478373.htm

which fits my bill perfectly re colours and spec etc.

A few questions

anybody know this car?

am I correct in thinking this will have the T5 gearbox?

I have next to no mechanical know how - would you recommend an independent inspection given it's a dealer? - was thinking of Ron Ingleby

Any other advice for a first time TVR purchase also appreciated.

Cheers
Mark

Looks like a nice car. I would have thought it would have the T5 gearbox but don't know the car.
I do however know this one very well and it definately has the T5 gearbox biggrin: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/505269.htm. Saves you a few thousand and open to inspection. The advert says it all. thumbup

yes Only the very early cars had the Rover box, the give away (I think) as well as the position of reverse is the door release knob being in it's own hole and not in the gearstick/handbrake hole.wink

There's also a nice green one at Dulford Auto/TVR Car Parts down near Exeter, but its probably a bit out of your way.
