Relativley easy once the manifolds are off. you will need a long masonary drill bit, hammer and chisel and some long nosed pliers for the last little bits. Or you may be lucky and have then drop out, either way wear a mask some nasties in there.

How tough is the new manifold? I have a ticking noise which I figure is the gasket. What will I need?

ive had the manifolds faced up.new gaskets and removed the pre cats ,yet i still have a ticking noise .may be i should just turn the music up a bit and forget it ,as for exhaust note you can tell the difference much deeper and the odd splutter and burble .

I have just changed my manifolds and taken out the precats. Firstly, in my case, the exhaust is a lot louder, the car does seem more eager (guess that depends on extent of engine tune and whether the exhaust breathing is the next weakest link?) and thirdly the manifolds i replaced them with are shcensoredte! Leak worse than my old ones. Back to square one.

did you use the better gaskets?i got mine from tvr shop with new nuts bolts and washers.remember to put them on dry and put the face on a flat surface and remove any pitting .how have you tested to make sure its the manifolds ?

Used the metal edged ones with a slow setting exhaust jointing compound. The leaks are coming from the 4 into 1 section. Easily found by using a length of hose as a stethoscope. Got the dremel on the faces to remove pitting and tracking.

mine is now sorted , sounds better, im after perfection and i think its the wrong car for that. the car is not tapping or making any worrying noises when i rev the car but on load there seems to be a clatter untill the revs build up .it could be a number of things but ive heard alot worse daz
