Is there a noticeable difference between the 3?
Yep - sorry.
400 - should be nice and smooth and "revy" compaired to others
450 - excellent compromise, powerful and faster than 400 but not as nasty as a bad 500
500 - the monster, when they are bad they are really bad. When they are good they are great....
2nd gear exiting a roundabout in MK with a clear dual carriageway of about .4 of a mile in front of you. Me chim 4.0, mate griff 500. Mate in front, and me behind exiting the roundabout (right up his chuff’), my mate normally pulls about 4 cars lengths from me, before we reach the next roundabout. Me a little
but of course deep down I know mine is bigger

"When you are on a superbike the 500 seems slow... its all relative."
Not my damn Superbike - yeah from 0-60 with a good getaway maybe there is half a second in it.
There is a local bit of tarmac - not a public road of course!! that we use to check relative speeds. There is a set of signs at the end that we use to compare against. My mates chipped TT makes 95 at the signs. My 500 makes 113 indicated (reckon this to be more like 100-105 real mph. My Aprilia RSV1000 (pretty quick 1000cc V Twin with 125 odd crank BHP) will hit 100 dead. I reckon the car is much quicker after this.
Worse, I have stopped getting such a buz out of the bikes acceleration. That £15K I paid for the car is now going to turn into £20K 'cause I now have to buy a new bike!!!!
Is this need for speed never-ending?????????

Don't know if you were at Mania this year, but a certain well know V8 engine builder based in Lincolnshire
, went head to head with one of the fastest griffs he's put together..5.3 with Nitros
on his standard superbike
, all I'll say is that the bike hit the rev limiter in top well before half way at 178mph and the griff caught him up at the 1.5 mile point at probably 170mph once he was coasting down. Don't get me wrong i love me TVR's in all shapes and forms, but I firmly believe that most modern superbikes are far far quicker than any TVR. FFS they're as quick as a F1 car off the mark what chance does a Tiv have

No argument from me. I was just comparing my own bike, which would not keep pace with the latest Japs.
I'll give it another go next week, just to see if I really screwed up the get off on the bike.
I just need to change my Aprilia for a 4 cylinder 160BHP+ Jap. Kinda breaks my heart to ride around on a Jap bike though.
Still, it won't be long before we see road going versions of the Aprilia and Ducati MOTOGP bikes. Might have to keep my money in my wallet until then!!
