To this very second I am running at around £260.00 for a service and around £300 for an MOT (Tyres and a couple bits of general fix-it-up work) and the rest is tax and insurance (person dependent). But ask me later on tonight and it will be around £800 more!!! Having AVO's fitted at the moment so that will send out my budget slightly.

But that said, mine doesnt go to a main dealer and its been pretty damn good. Oh, and just remembered spend £47 on HT leads and another £100 on rear speakers and head unit change. But didnt need to do that, but wanted to....

I've had my 4.5 just over a year with a spend of £1,400 which includes full set of tyres, sports exhaust mod and a few other bits. Two services (not at main dealer) and I've done about 16,500 miles.

Full info on my profile, save insurance details. I think mines a good 'un i.e. nothing major has ever gone wrong. Only thing that distorts it is the monster bill (£1500 ) from the dealer.

I budgeted about £1K, as per the recieved wisdom here. And thats about what it's ended up costing.

Year on year:

Insurance and road tax: £600
Last service: £660
Oil: £20
Petrol: who cares?

Have spent nothing on it because nothing has gone wrong on it ...

Oh, the missus got me one of the Leven oil filler caps and one of the petrol caps.

6000 miles covered in 18 months. Get a good 'un and it won't let you down!

Hmmmm... I was a bit shocked when I worked out my costs recently!

Breakdown over 22 months and 19,500 miles:

Tyres - £594
Servicing - £3233
Upgrades - £2042
Insurance - £2985
Total - £8854

Have a look at my profile for the full story, especially my rolling road saga with Mark Adams on Tuesday!

The car feels absolutely sorted now though!

Im affraid I agree with ncs (Nick). Its not just the normal running costs you gotta look out for, its all the 'non-necessary' costs.

By non-necessary I mean things which are actually necessary to enjoy the car

i.e. the pub lunches, the TVRCC drives etc......etc......

Makes it great fun though!!!!!
