Dodgy fuel guage (more so than usual!)
Discussion
Hi,
In the driving rain over in France this weekend my fuel guage decided to play up, in that it works intermittently. Sometimes not at all, other times it seems fine.
I'm guessing that some water has got to some electrics, anyone have any idea as to where i start to look?
Has anyone had this before and did it clear up when dried (which i am hoping for)
Many thanks all, David

David,
It might be worth looking behind the door on each side of the car in the flap behind and to the side of each seat.
All the wiring comes through from the back of the car via some pretty grotty connectors which are located each side. I'm not sure which side of the car the fuel gauge wiring goes however so you will have to look both sides.
Disconnect each connector in turn and clean pins and spray with switch cleaner if you have any, or good old WD40 and then reconnect.
Then take for blast and check gauge.
Another place to check is the fuel tank sender connection located behind the carpet in the boot.
Let us know how you get on.
Paul.
