Cigarrette lighter charging!

Has anyone tried or got one of those chargers for the cigarrette lighter? (Leven Tech. ones!) I cant be bothered to change the battery now so I thought this was a better idea!

I've got a "trickle" charger that plugs into the ciggy lighter. Went away from 3 weeks, left the car in the garage (cover on obviously) trickle charger attached, alarm on........came home. Got in. Started first time, no probs.........

Same here, I use a trickle charger (Leven one), I plug it into the ciger lighter, the chim starts first time... do it!

Ditto - used mine for over a year without problems. It's so simple I wonder why more people don't do it that way.

Was that the £45 one (+ cigar lighter attachment)? Are they safe?

Yeah they're safe enough - it's just you can't go very far and you keep going in small circles - great for doughnuts though.

Works fine on mine - had a problem with the cigar lighter fitting and Offords replaced for less than £40 - easy way of keeping the battery topped up, especially over the winter months.

Mine works great. I forgot to plug it in recently and my battery was fairly flat with enough to open the doors but not enough to turn over. The ciggie lighter thing went on for about 8 hours with the alarm off and it then had *just* enough to start (it was touch and go). Since then battery has been fine. I wouldn't be without mine.

Don't make my mistake and leave the lead on the floor when you reverse out the garage. Had to replace the plug last week after i drove over it... Fernies supplied it but it was one of the 50 quid jobbies.

I've been using a £25 Draper Battery Mate (?) from Halfrauds for about three years now. Originally using the croc clips onto the alternator - but had to raise bonnet etc so changed to cig lighter last year. Absolutely 100% O.K.

I've got a hook just outside the drivers door to stop me doing that on mine. Charger is mounted on wall as well. Take the lead out, push it out window and hook over hook.

Et. Voila!

That's nuffink! I thought my lead was a tripping hazard so I made up a hinged overhead gantry using some plastic pipe. Now the lead goes from the chrager, up the wall, into the tube... and appears directly over the cig socket. McLaren would be proud of it!
