Hey Guys!

Quick question if pos; Just found a 2 inch piece of metal in my offside rear tyre.

1. Whats the best jacking location for these as I have read differing opinions (I have standard jack supplied with the car)

2. How far will the spacesaver tyre get me as it will be tomorrow evening before I can get the new one fitted and will need to drive for some time to get it changed.

Many thanks in advance

When using the wind up type... I jacked from outrigger but as close to the square box chassis as I could... trolley jack straight onto the box section

Sorry, can't help with the spacesaver

cool thanks for the help mate.

Was also just thinking that my alfa is SORN at the moment with perfectly good 16" 4 stud wheels sitting no the drive... Is there anything stopping me from using one of them for a day?

Bolt pattern? (Chim has 4 x 108 as per Ford)
Hub diameter?
Wheel offset?

apologies, having just looked at the ads on autotrader it would appear the alfa's wheels are 5 stud so I think i'll just have to revert to the spacesaver

As long as the outrigger's are in good condition they are good to use as a jack point, but it might be worth putting something between the jack and the outrigger to protect its coating.

The spacesaver tyre should be fine, though they are rated to a max speed of 50 mph I think.... plus you hear stories of the cars handling badly on the spacesaver. It should be ok but just bear in mind that you'll have to drive very gently and carefully, no harsh accelerating, breacking or cornering.

thanks all for the help; the spacesaver is on now and only has to survive a 20 mile round trip in the morning and then we'll be all good with new toyo in tow!!!
