Can anyone please help me tonight?

I have just taken my wiper motor apart to fix it, and its literally fallen apart on me. the base where the bushes fit was in bits, and i think the only thing holding it one piece, was the fact it had no where to go.

the bushes are broke, the base plate is in 3 and i have no wipers now.

what car is the wiper motor and gear unit from. as i think my only hope of a quick fix, is to get a scrappy job now

any help will be hugely appreciated

mine is a K plate 4.3Bv if they were model specific

many thanks

martin

hello

I have a spare wiper motor in my garage which I am willing to sell. The motor came from my S3 when the wipers packed up and I replaced it with a new one but I dont think there was anything wrong with it. It was the switches that were the problem. I now have a Chimaera and the motor is the same. If you are interested please get in touch.

That's the 14w brush plate, it can be stripped to use the brushes and base plate, but the cables need to be rated at 17 amp, rather than the 8.75 on those units.

So is all i need to do, is change the wires to a thicker wire?

as if so, thats a hell of a lot better than paying Hundreds if i can do it for £15

Yes, that's all but make sure the wire you use is not too stiff so the brushes are free to move.

well, i have sorted it.

after speaking to adrian@ and finding the £120 to £150 to do this was rather a lot against £200 for a complete unit, i took a gamble on the above part.

bought the replacement part mentioned above for £17, with the view of changing the wires to correct ones.

Part arrives, and simplicity stares you in the face.

swap the carbons into the old holders from the new.

no need to change wires, no messing around.

20 min job tops, and working wipers again.

total cost, sub £17
much better than £120 plus post.

one happy chap sat right here

Exactly what i did.
Top marks to Adrian who talked me through it, with no view of a sale for him. Its lovely to meet someone who genuinely wants to help others.
