Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but it has stumped me.

I have had some work doe to alter the clutch and make it smoother so the Mrs is happier driving the car. When investigating the issue the garage noted the clutch forks we going and hence replaced them under warranty (vrey godd of them I mnust say). As a result the gear box came out.

However, when I've looked at the gear knob its out of rotation by about 120 degrees.

I've taken it off numerous times but cant work out how to tighten it in the correct position.

All comments appreciated (constructive ones only!)

Hi,

I have had a similar problem with this. The gear knob is in two halves (the gear knob and a collar). If you unscrew the grar knob a couple of turns, hold onto the Gear knob, so that it is on the right position, and screw the collar up to the gear knob until it is tight and secure. This shoud do it.

Incorrigible

Although unconstructive is my usual MO

He's right

If you take the knod off you should be able to rotate the locking nut (conical bit of ally) under it (on the thread obviously)

twist that 120deg, refit the knob, should be OK
