high revs on tickover
Discussion
i have a 1996 chimaera i have cleaned the stepper motor and housing, also the butterfly and housing, but the high tickover is still there around 1800 2000 revs somtimes its fine around 900 but then the problems start when it gets near normal running temp i have clamped the breather pipe from stepper motor and this closes the revs down to about 1200 revs can anybody put me in the right direction

Sounds like you have an air leak around the plenum. Listen carefully, or use a pipe to listen to all the joints/pipe connections. If clamping drops the revs on the stepper motor inlet, did you also clean the housing the stepper screws into ?? That get really gungy. If you've cleaned and disturbed all the butterfly have a look at RPI and ensure you set up the inlet as per: http://www.rpiv8.com/carbs-2.htm#setting-up
Good luck

Check out the by-pass restricter option by www.sc-power.co.uk this was designed to overcome this problem and works really well.
