'98 Chim Alarm/Immobiliser
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I need a hand. Just bought my first TVR ('98 Chim 400)and well chuffed so far, however I have noticed I have no audiable alarm happening!!? Alarm is definately arming and have even fiddled with the microwave sensitivity box under centre console which also appears to work. Smack the back screen and the lights trigger suggesting the alarm is 'functioning'BUT no siren/horn. Does anyone know if the Meta system fitted is siren/horn linked? Or where the siren is housed? Or what could be wrong? Please help!

Siren which incorperates a backup battery - Located nearside between rad and front aperture. (accessable from front aperture)
Check connector on cable near siren. Chances are though the siren's dead. They tend to suffer from wet in the connector and on the cable to the actual speaker in the siren.
They only guarantee them for 6 months
When you replace (~£60) point it backwards, tilted down as this helps them to last longer.

The siren is normally behind the front grill on the right.... well is on mine
Do a search on 'meta' there's enough thread to keep you going all night.
Hi Kev,
Like you I'm a new owner with virtually the same problem. Alarm has only sounded once since I got the car. Your posting made me decide to have a look. The siren is on the passenger side and taking it off and putting it back has cured the problem, must have been dodgy connection somewhere?? Easy to do if you have small hands!!

Do you know where I can get one? I'm also after a new air filter...I've yet to come across a good resource for parts? Appreciate your help.
