Variable tickover when hot.... normal?

Gentlefolk...

When my car gets hot and the fans are on i.e when stuck in traffic for an extended period. I have noticed that the tickover speed drops from the normal steady 1000rpm to a variable 750-1000.

Is this normal? This being my first TVR, I am trying to work out what is normal and what needs fixing....

It should be around steady around 800 rpm, but theres plenty on this forum if you do a search on the subject (Use "Stepper motor" as a search).
