Hoping someone maybe able to help with the following alarm problem...97mk2 Chimaera, original Meta system unmolested

When returning to the car to disarm alrm I press keyfob & the alarm goes off immediately, siren lights the whole lot. I have to arm the alarm to stop the noise, however i am then stuck with having to drive the car with the alarm going off as the system is activate whils i am in the car.

Have owned the car virtually from new for 11 yrs so reassured that the alarm has never been played with, out of interest for those that doubt the reliability of TVR's this has been my first ever problem with the car...

Many thanks Martin

I would recommend you phone Carl Baker 07720 723 407
He might be able to talk you through sorting it over the phone or at least give you an idea of whats wrong

Mines also a 1997 Chim, the Alarm started playing up last year so i had a new one fitted by Carl (Another Meta)
He reckons the Meta is the best Alarm for the car & will out last anything else
Top bloke, won't rip you off by telling you need to replace parts that don't replacing (i think theres 3 or 4 separate parts to the Meta from memory)

Has the battery been flat? As the same key operates both the alarm and immobiliser they can get out of sync. If the battery's been charged up whilst connected, try disconnecting it for a few seconds.

Spoke with Carl, he really is very helpful, comments as follows...very good original system with few failures

Meta system comprises 4 seperate components
1. Siren
2. control module..beneath dash
3. microiwave sensor
4. immobiliser

he is confident it is the siren element that is failing, replacement units available through him although a later model so minor tweeks reqd to wiring at siren & controle module ends....

In the meantime as a quick fix bearin in mind i had to drive the car with the siren sounding continously! i can unplug the siren & continue to use the central locking etc without the siren.

Will keep you posted on progress & take some pics on the installation
