Gearbox/clutch gear slection problem

I have at chim 4.5 with the T5 box twice now it has stopped me selecting gears, only 3-4 can be selected with lots of effort. Once moving a little distance it all become free again. Has anyone got any ideas whats causing the the only thing I can think of thats the same is the car was left from hot for about 20 mins, so is there something getting heat soak that would cause these symptoms.

You did'nt say when the clutch was last replaced,master cylinder,slave cylinder or fluid.

The clutch was last checked about 300 miles ago when the engine was out, and had loads left. The clutch fluid was changed recently with dot 5.1.

I took it for a 25 mile drive after it did it yesterday, after a 1/2-1 miles it's fine, parked it on the drive came out about a houre later and all gears are easy to select.

So its getting a bit confusing why it intermittent.

The gearstick mechanism gets sticky when hot if it needs lubricating,mine was lousy a couple of years ago due to this(and no gearbox oil change did not improve mine)and few shots of spray grease and

OK I will check the gearbox linkage on the top, the gearbox oil is new and at right level.
