ive just purchased a so called new three peice clutch for my 4l chimaera .when i opened the box i could not beleive it
  • a rusty old clutch cover with hammer marks all over it and small circles where you could see the clutch plate as been fitted
  • a re-con clutch plate from national and the wrong spline
  • wrong cheaper plastic thrust bearing
i thought i was being clever trying to save money .i went to tvr shop in the end and got a fantastic quality clutch set but cost me £100 more . jusr be carefull !

Does bad luck follow you you were only talking about being shafted the other day.
Where did you get your decent clutch from in the end.

Daren, what was the first sympton of your clutch needing changing.

Burning smell when taking off with spirit?
Slip when flooring it at 3000rpm plus ?

How long before you are down to the rivets, once detecting symptons.

I dont want to be without the car during this nice weather and I hope I can put if of for a couple of months, but dont want to get to the rivets and score things up.

Bugger it...wink Daz you'll know..

I've just had a gearbox rebuild done by Topcats and they not only made a cracking job of it but did a rather quick turnaround.. clap

I supplied the clutch though which I bought 8 weeks previously in preparation for the impending rebuild..

Had a call from Topcats after the rebuild and said the gearbox is like new..! BUT... the new clutch is slipping shoot

Guess where clutch is from... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I got my last clutch from these guys (Griff 500 clutch for a 400se Wedge) and plastic bearing aside (which they will happily refund), the clutch was a brand spanking new borg and beck clutch.

The guy on the phone was very proud to mention he also supplies a very well known TVR car parts place near Devon who then sell on at double the price!

I very much doubt that it is Techniclutch.

The supplier was stated prior to the post being edited. Perhaps the thread should be left to die? RIP.

Unfortunatley some duff info. We do not supply 'Techniclutch' clutches. Yes our clutches are more expensive than th ebay available units but we use new not reconditioned clutches supplied by AP/Borg & Beck, and raceproved
