Hi All
My front nearside brake has started to clunk recently when the peddle is pressed, it is getting worse but i cannot see the cause, i was told that it could be the pad moving in the calliper if this is so does it mean a new calliper or can it be fixed?
P.S i know its not the bushes as it happens even on the lightest touch of the break peddle as well as heavy braking, the noise is the same.

I get this fairly often at work,it can sometimes be the brake pad steel backing not made to the correct dimensions(to small, normally cheap pattern pads)causing said clonking once they have been fitted for a short time,it may be down to a worn pad carrier though or possibly the caliper wire spring clip is missing/weak or damaged(keeps the caliper under tension)remove the caliper and see how loose fitting the pads are top to bottom in the carrier are before panickingwinkhows that for speed 6 mins reply bow

Make sure you haven't got a loose mounting bolt and the carrier is moving slightly when you brake.
Particularly noticeable if you change direction if that makes sense, so if you reverse, brake and it may clunk louder, then go forward and brake it may clunk louder the first time if it is that.

Thanks
I think its the bigger of the two sizes as i was told it had a 5ltr brake upgrade before i bought it, also it only makes th noise going forward same sound at any speed, i does sound like a pad clicking against the carrier if im honest,
I'm thinking of renewing the pads for yellow stuff any comments welcome
