Evening all, has anyone moved the battery on their chim? i have done a search on here but not found much info, i am looking to move the battery into the boot to make it easier to get to, also somehow fitting a manual release for the boot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Spyschim just moved his into the boot, and moved the fuse board behind the passenger seat without needing to rewire. Massive difference to passenger legroom. Think he needs upgraded springs in the back to counter the weight of the massive amps in the boot too eek

I was planning to have mine done soon (battery in the boot) but the money has been diverted to a new bathroom (how did that happen ?) . TopCats were going to do the work , I *think* it was about £250 but I cant find the quote right now. Dont forget you will need to get some carpet work done as well.

I am planning on moving my battery this winter and have looked at various options, none of which were ideal. The latest option I am considering is the cubby hole behind the passengers seat, however this area will need enlarging a little which will mean cutting into the fibreglass body, removing the existing box and then bonding a larger one back in. The downside of this is that if the body ever needs to be separated from the chassis then the new battery box will have to be removed first!

Cheers Andy

I modified mine so you get to it from the inside of the passengers footwell. Just cut down the front and left a lip on the bottom so it can't move about. Very simple operation and no hope of the battery moving around, especially if the passengers FM pedal is a tight fit.
