Does anybody know if the RV8 has a 'limp home' mode on it ?? Just been out and about and coming off a roundabout and going up through the gears it suddenly just feels like its hit a wall. Doesn't go anywhere over about 2200/2300 rpm.

Pull over, stop the car - fiddle - car starts and then performs without any problem confused

This is on a Gineeta G33 but its the same set up as you Chim boys - EFi/Lucas system ,etc.

I'd be surprised; the ECU is fairly basic.

I don't think even the Speed6 cars have it.

Thanks very much for the offer. thumbup

Would the code still be there if I have turned the engine off/on and driven for a further 50-60 miles ??

How long are the codes stored for ?

Blimey; I'd not heard that one before. I had assumed that 'limp mode' was a relatively recent thing. Care to give a little more info, or something I can type into google? TIA.

the codes are the bible, in a series of 01 alien intervation, through to 99 no more money.

Youd hardly know it was in limp mode, its certainly not as you describe. Although the codes would seem to cover just about everything, its pretty damned hard to actually get them to register anything sensible. Your options will be very limited as you dont have the catalyst stuff to control the fuel or generate the relevent fault codes when it all goes wrong but the codes are here:

I had exact same problem a few weeks ago, gave the motor a good service including plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotary arm, coil, auxillary belt, oil/filter change, ECU reset - problem gone away, runs sweet now.

Its tucked up in the loom by the bank of Relays under the dash on the passenger side. Its square with 4 internal socket connectors.

Hi David - if I can't get one locally can I take you up on your offer ? I have no idea how big these things are so am not sure if postage is an option ??

Simon.

Excellent - thanks Mark. I might as well see if its recorded anything. Took the car out sunday as well and no further problems but might as well have a check on things.

I'll email you later tonight. thumbup
