Just had Derek from Abs Shocks set up my car yesterday. I'm very happy with it, a little bit of tweaking and I've gotten it the way I like. I'm really happy with my Gaz Golds. What settings are you using?

You obviously don't have a clue how to set them up properly. Gaz are probably the biggest selling adjustable damper for TVR's in the last 18 months and you still think they are c**p ! Get someone who knows how to set them up properly before shouting your mouth off on here.

Daz, if memory serves me right Derek previously offered to check and correct your set up to your liking. Perhaps you should take him up on it instead of frustrating yourself by getting it wrong every time.

With all due respect to the many suspension experts already posting on this thread .. but if Darren says it's too stiff on 14 and too soft on 13 what do you think Derek is going to do? find that elusive 13.5 click?

On the subject of big sales must mean they're fab : Primark do a lot of clothes sales and for many people they are perfectly adequate, but some people can't get comfortable in Primark clothes no matter how much they adjust the belt or buttons or exchange the garment for another size.

Darren finds his Gaz dampers like I find Primark clothes .. I can never get them right .. so now I don't shop at Primark but I know plenty of people who will still continue because either they're the right shape for the Primark sizing system or they're happy with a compromise that's not quite right but buy them anyway because they're the right price ..

So Ryan before you start laying into someone who can't get a good fit just think a little bit deeper into the subject.

Edited for pre-breakfast spelling blues.

You're right Ryan .. I have far more success with my clothes from Peacocks. yes Like I say some people are happy with Primark and some people aren't .. Darren is finding that he's one who isn't. I don't see why you're having such a go at him over his posting, maybe you could explain that in greater detail ie because most people are happy he should effectively shut up and put up ? ( I'm very pleased that you are 100% happy with your dampers btw )

I have to say that every time I check a car, like Wildfire's on Saturday that like Daz, people keep going on about the front being too stiff and when I check the cars the front is fine and the rear is too stiff.
Why not turn the rears down to 12 and see how that feels and gradually increase to suit your needs.
As for comparing Gaz to Primark,I think Gaz wuuld take great exception when they are just about the only UK suspension manufacturer who make everything in house and are investing in new £30k cnc machines to constantly improve quality and performance.

there was a problem with these shocks last year and admitted .what i dont undertsand is why can you set them a on hard then they soften up on there own .not just soft but they bouncy like no dampers fitted . can you explain the oil around the damper !.if i had my time again it would just buy the blisteins or have mine rebuilt as i don`t track day .ive contacted gaz direct asked for tech help and complained , as a result ive just received a front set which as been fully tested every five clicks .just one more thing £50x three sets back three sets front =£300. this means i ve had a year of crap driving and its cost me £900 . could ofgot the best . now think .

It was an analogy. I didnt say gaz were primark, I said darren finds his dampers like i find primark clothes .. they don't fit me no matter how much i tighten the belt or try a different size. That's what I was saying .. the implication being that if you go for something that suits you perfectly it's likely to be tailor made and hence more expensive, unless you find a peacocks who's sizing structure happens to fit you .. see?

I fitted Gaz golds last year noticed a great improvement to the handling of the car, hower it has to be said that the old shocks were in a real state so even fitting the standard biltens woold probably have made a significant improvement.

Anyway this year the handling seems to have deteriorated quite dramatically and I’m finding the car excessively 'bouncy' (apologies for lack of technical knowledge here) when ever I go over any bumps in the road, which is quite scary at speed. I’ve tried quite a bit of adjustment but have not really found any settings that really improve this. Could this be a problem with the shocks or are there other adjustments to the set up which I should try.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My car showed very similar symptoms as yours - Derek had a look and found the rear's a set too hard and the fronts a too soft. Corrected this and the car feels great now.
