Anyone out there had to replace their rear diff on a chimp? I need to do mine, hopefully under warranty, but I'd be keen to know if its as big a job as the garage seem to think,

I think you're looking at around £600 in parts, plus labour. Probably come out around a grand in total.

btom,

How many miles has your Chim done. Why do you think you need a new diff??

Have just had the diff replaced on my Griff (under warranty). Garage told me it was only a 3 hr job.

Marlboro - 29,000 miles so not unreasonable to expect the diff to go I suppose. Anyway its all academic now as I sold the car on Saturday - knocked a grand off the price because of it. The worst part of TVR ownership is the selling part......

Yikes! 29,000 miles. I thought a diff would last a lot longer than that - like 129,000 miles - or am I way off the mark???

btom,

Interested to know what indicated your diff was going? when reversing on a full lock my rear wheels seem to skip a bit sometimes. Familiar?

Hi Adam, I know this thread is now two years old but. My Griff has the same problem with wheels jumping when on full lock and reversing... and it's in for a diff rebuild

Just interested if you sorted it out and if it was a diff in your case?

(I've had all the geometry checked, ball joints replaces at the front, front and back bushes replaced and the damn thing thill goes all over the place on little bumps as well as pulling to the left all the time!)

Cheers,
Gav
