Electric Turbo Charger???
Discussion
What does everyone think of this, it sounds too good to be true to me, so I would imagine it probably is.

Don't despatch the theory so quickly...
One of the sources of 'loss' (ie power loss) in an engine is pumping losses - the power required to pump (well, suck) air into the engine. If you can increase the air pressure at the air inlet - even by a little bit - that pumping loss is reduced, hence more power is available at the flywheel.
Now whether this electric turbo thingy actually provides an increase in pressure which exceeds the (pumping) losses caused by putting a great big impeller in the air intake (through which the air must pass) in the first place is another matter. And the additional load on the alternator to drive it must be overcome as well....

Let me put it this way, as Ive been testing AFM's recently and its possible to get a reading of 4.5 volts air flow output when the car is absolutley flat out. So I tried to replicate this amount of air on the bench, using a 2.5 kw garden vacuum. This produced a maximum of airflow 4 volts, so basically there is no way you could either supply enough power, ( 2.5 kw = at 12 volts= 200 AMPS !) or fit a big enough electric motor under the bonnet to even get near the v8's maximum draw. That means anything you add will REDUCE the airflow. Electric super chargers have been done, but basically it needed no less than 4 separate electric motors to drive it, and would flatten the battery in no time.

Thats more or less what I thought, I couldnt see how a relatively small electric motor would produce anything near what a conventional turbo produces. I think ultimately its the bling factor that attracts some peopleMark
Well i have something to add to this one.................... many years ago and i mean prob 1982 1983 myself and a friend heard about forced induction........ so we hatched a plan and he drew the short straw, so we set off to the scrap yard and sourced a heater motor from a granada and a 3 speed switch......... took it back and opened the bonnet of his MK3 cortina. A biscuit tin was bolted to the top of the carb and the motor mounted in the lid of the tin and all wired up, with the wires poking out the bonnet and in the window we went for a drive....... he drove i had the switch, anyway we got on the bypass into third he floored the 1.6 pinto and i turned on the turbo boost....... we were expectng knight rider performance........................... all we got was a humming noise, so i put it on speed 3 and he hit the gas again.......... still nothing, obviously Ford knew more about getting out of a 1.6 than we did, still makes me smile today though
"life to the internal impeller and motor.
the noise leaving the valve can be heard in some cases, then unlike any other valve it will remain open until the throttle is re applied so you can get a great deceleration induction sound through the valve. "
Quoting from the Ebay advert.
It'll bypass the air filter on overrun thus allowing sh#te into your engine.......
The joys of Bullsh#te!!!
You have to laugh really, what else can you do?!?!
