Ok picked up my 97 Chim 400 today (pics to follow) and just a couple of questions.

Firstly there is a yellow/orange light on the steering wheel column (cant find it in the handbook so just wondering if its aftermarket) that seems to come on when the fans cut in (temp stays solid at 95ish) si this just a warning/advice light

second when starting off from standstill the car seems to splutter for a second before kicking in fully ( crap explanation sorry) is this something usual/easy fix?

lastly how do you stop the stupid smile?

To be honest need to get used to it a bit more before a direct comparison with the 355 but the noise is just as addictive, whereas the Fezza used to scream though the Chim roars. Handling etc obviously I need to get the hang of it first before I can post about that.

Cooling Fan warning light. Seems a popular-ish addition. There should/could also be a push on/off switch on the column (same design as boot release push switch) which will switch on the fans to help cool engine bay temp as well after a warm run.

Have fun.

Isn't 95 a bit on the high side for the fans to kick in?
Mine kick in at about 70

If the guages were accurate maybe but they're not and everyone will see differing temps.
Just need to be aware of where your guages sit normally so you can spot any fluctuations.

Fully support that response - next to fuel gauge, temp gauges are notoriously inaccurate - but reliable !!

I will be monitoring all the gauges and listening for all the rattles and squeaks so i know what is normal and when to start worryinglaugh

But even after 1 day back in the Trevor family i know it was the right decision, just be prepared for plenty of how do i poststhumbup

But i will be getting a bible straight away.....

Just checked Bible on the correct temperature level, it reads -
90C with the fan switching on every few minutes. Occasionally going to 95C in very hot weather

So hopefully your gauge is inaccurate as others have said, otherwise its running a bit on the hot side
Think i'd be tempted to fit a new fan switch just in case, i'm sure their quite cheap...
Or check with a digital thermometer as recommended in the Bible

Interestingly, the BIble does recommend fitting a fan switch that switchs the fan on below 90C, which i assume the previous owner has done to my car

Yep, I concur with that, ALL my gauges are relaibly inaccurate

Edited to add;

Except my Speedo witch is unreliably inacurate necessitating the use of a Road
Angel whenever cameras are about.
