OK, my rear diff is definately on it's way out...
thanks to colinrob, i have now been able to get ny hands on the "golden fleece", yup, the "bible".. should be on it's way tomorrow or the day after, best £33.00 i'll ever spend.... hopefully, which makes me think... that's cheaper than TVRCC membership... oops, not wanting to open a can of worms
ok, back to the question i would like answering, as i'm going to have to wait for my "bible" to arrive.. that question being, are the diffs TVR's own, of, are they from some other car... hoping it's the latter, as getting TVR bits may be logistically rather difficult being in Germany.
Any help, as ever, greatly appreciated.
Again, thanks colin, top man

seems like i'll have to call Mr TVR then....
anyone know of any Dealers that would gladly send me one... their location is obviously unimportant as i'm in Germany.
bonus points for telephone numbers, as an extra bonus you'll probably get a letter from my phone company thanking you for my custom

Early model Chimaera (up to about '96) had a BTR diff which is now as rare as hen's teeth. Later models had a different one (GKN??). I have been told it is possible to upgrade but you need a few other parts and the whole diff - not just the crown wheel and pinion or new bearings or whatever.
A lot of Chimaeras and Griffs are getting to 50k nowadays and many seem to need at least diff bearings doing at this stage (yours might just be the bearings - easier/cheaper). Mine needed a new crown wheel and pinion too.
