I'm still searching for the right car and think that I may be onto one so, I carried out an HPI check to save a possible long drive.

I'm pleased to say that the report came up clean apart from the description of the Manufacturer and Model.

As I haven't owned a TVR before is it normal for the cars to be decribed be the DVLA as follows?

Make Other UK
Model Other British Base

Seems odd to me. Mine is TVR Chimaera as you'd expect, and so was the other I've seen.

Not usual, as the Chimaera range had a Certificate of Conformity and so should be shown as a Chimaera. Possible personal import or Forces car?

Not sure that it can be an import as I imported a 300zx a couple of years ago and the V5 states:

'IMPORTED VEHICLE - WAS REGISTERED/USED OVERSEAS. DECLARED MANUFACTURED 199?.'

A forces car? Not sure about this one.

The rest of the search is fine even shows the original reg no. as the car now wears a personal plate.

I know that DVLA do make some mistakes and I was wondering if their databases offer limited search facilities at the weekends (well it's a theory :-D)

Might be easier to find out who the supplying dealer was, rather than trying the DVLA. They should have a record or know the car.

When I got the Chimaera HPI'd that showed up as UK Sports Other.

When I do an insurance quote on Tesco's for example, when you put the reg no in it doesn't recognise it

It recognises the Supra though.

Thanks Steve, yes it was a car advertised on here, I didn't want to say too much before as I hadn't seen the car but it's okay now as I bought it!

Just seen this Tim, and as you've now bought it I suppose this is purely accademical. IMHO it's not too important waht comes up on HPI as they may use different d/base. Should be correct on V5 though.

So, what did you get get? - let's see the pics please!

edited to say "Oh - seen the pic on New Owner thread" - but, any more? What interior combo?
