I still haven't worked out the procedure for starting the car. Had to sit outside a restaurant yesterday for quite a while pretending to have a nice chat while I frantically fiddled around with the alarm button and key in different combinations!
Here's what I think I should do... please correct me:
Blip the blipper, jump in and turn the key, blip the blipper again to activate the fuel pump, start the car (all within 15 seconds). Seems rude to start the engine before the passenger has even worked out how to get into the car, so I usually take longer to start it which means the 15 seconds has lapsed. At this point I turn the ignition off, then on again, then press the blipper for the fuel pump etc. However, I don't think this always works (haven't recorded the process in a very scientific manner!). Yesterday, when the 15 seconds lapsed, I eventually opened and closed the door and repeated the procedure, and it worked!
Please help!

Hi Toby,
Dead easy once you get used to it. Blip the blipper to unlock the car (I have to say I never bother locking the car as 1) I have only one blipper and don't fancy getting locked out and 2) Most low-lifes couldn't work out the locks anyway....they would just knife the roof!!).
Help your passenger into the car or just get in and amuse yourself as they try to work out how to get in, depending on mood.
Turn the ignition to the on position ( when the warning lamps light)
Press the blipper once and watch the "MIL" warning lamp illuminate briefly (this coupled with the dulcet sound of the fuel pump will let you know you have pressed the button hard enough).
Once the fuel pump has stopped whining turn the key to start the car......leading to lots of noise and silly grin!
Congrats on a great choice of car. Get out there and enjoy!

P.S. If you want a simillar step by step guide on how to do the roof see my earlier post on the subject www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=2&f=8&t=49141&h=0&hw=roof

Thanks all. I think my first problem with unlocking has been that I don't hold the blipper on for a couple of seconds. (On my old car this was used to set the alarm off!).
Once I've wasted 20 seconds in the car though, I turn the key and blip once (should this blip be a two-second one too?) which does indeed make a light go off (or on, can't remember, but the one marked MIL does nothing I don't think...). erm... I'm all confused now... duurrrr... I'll try again in a few minutes anyway!

I had similar problems and tried numerous things, even down to ensuring that the key went ito the ignition with the number to the top (as it seemed to start more frequently that way up)
Anyway paid a bit more attention, and realised that on the key ring was a piece of grey plastic, assume its a proximity magnectic sensor thingy (thats the technical term). When this was in a certain position the red LED on the steering column went out, and turning on the ignition, the sound of the fuel pumps whirring and then

Now I just ensure that if the LED doesn't go out, I turn this round to the position where it does and hey presto.
Can't tell you what alarm system I have, but it works for me!!

Alarm on/off is a two second press.
Key in ignition and turned is a short blip which starts the pump and flashes the MIL lamp. (I never wait for the pump to stop).
I have had problems with the fob failing to work. These are easily resolved by opening it (carefully
) and repositioning the circuuit boards.
