I have the leven cooler running kit fitted, does anyone know what temp the stat opens ?
I think it is 74 degrees, if this is the case, does it mean that when the rad pipes start getting warm I can take the car above 3000 rpm ??

I don't really want to rely on the temp gauge

You don't really want to be taking the car above 3000rpm until the OIL is warm, not the water ...

I'd give it five miles or so ... depending on traffic

No, it just means it will take longer to warm up to the point where you can start to push it, because the stat has opened too soon.

I give mine about 4 miles, by which time I normally get stuck in traffic so it gets a few more minutes on idle.

Cheers,
Matt.
