I am sure this has probably done before but who is the best/cheapest insurance co.
Ive been quoted Norwich union Direct £730 -6000miles
TVR car club £610 -5000miles
This is for a 98 chimaera, 41 year old, full no claims, one sp30, car garaged, live in Bedford and mileage limited to see above
Any help would be much appreciated as I am about to renew my insurance

Try ATS - 0870 600 00 80

or Norwich Union Direct - 0800 092 9564 (who I'm with)

Classicline for me. MUCH cheaper than all the rest I tried.

99T Chim 4.0, 3000 miles p.a. £358.

I'm 41, clean license, max no claims, car garaged.

It's the miles that does it - for 4,500 miles it would have been £470-ish

Was it a requirement that the car was garaged?

Went with Direct line in the end £620. Garaged, 10,000miles, me at 37, the missus at 34 (driving back from the pub), and no points. This was my first sports car and other places were looking at previous experience. Careful though they won't let you insure it as a second car cos the ins grp is too high. I transferred the missus' NCB to this car and took her car out as the 2nd car on this insurance.

A.Mannings. £501 I have a Seat Cupra R insured elsewhere as my main car and Mannings shadowed the NCB onto the TVR . The cost is for 5000 miles for me and the missus fully comp. I'm 40 with 7 yrs NCB missus is 37. Can upgrade to 7,500 for £597 or unlimited miles for £660. '98 4L chim

Definitely try Direct Line ... I've been quoted £606 for me and my wife (insured as her main car with her 306 Diesel as second car) - I'm not with them at the moment so they won't do me one no claims split over two cars but my wife is so they will do so for her.

They also cover my bosses 355 Ferrari for £702 a year.

I found it reduced the premium masively to add my girlfriend onto the policy as a named driver. Apparently, because I'm willing to let her drive it, it makes me a safer driver ! Still cost me £1200 to upgrade from 3PFT on a Saxo (I know, I know...) with 9 months for policy to run, to FC on 4.0 Chim. Parked on street - SW17, 26, full no claims, 10,000 miles, one SP30. That's with Elephant.co.uk

Griffith 500, 7000miles, garaged, Bedford too , 6 yrs NCB, 26 years old, SP30 from 2001. Was with Mannings, renewal = £741.33, but Sunninghill quoted £663.78. Very nice chaps, too. Give 'em a shout. I'm sure they'll be even cheaper for somebody of a more...ahem...advanced age....

Sunninghill 01276 478444

What colour / reg are you? I'll have a look out! Mine's a 'chianti starmist' griff...that's aubergine / purpley to you and me.

My Tesco quote was about £1200.
