Don't get me wrong I love my Chim 400 - but it is pushing things to the limit.
I decided to do a 500 mile round trip from Bristol to Grimsby in the Chim. Things were going well until 30 miles into the journey when it had a misfire or fuel surge for about a second. all seemed well after - until I got to a junction and found I had lost tickover, all stopped and turning the engine over didn't restart. In desperation I cycled the imobilizer and straightaway it fired into life as though nothing had happened.
This carried on intermitently for the whole journey. about 15 times in all.

Any suggestions?

I had some similar problems myself and all it was....wat for it......TA DAAAAA.....The Stepper motor!

Wang it off, clean it out (use some lint free cloth as YOU DON NOT want ANY debri in there), clean the throat as well using cleaning alchohol....sorted me out. Mate (Chimyellow) showed me the ropes bit I thinh the bible will illutrate as well.

I had similar problems, had the ECU and airflow meter changed under warranty, new HT leads. Still had problems so put it in to Austec Racing (TVR specialists), ECU hadn't been set up properly, and needed new O2 sensors.

Austec said there was probobly a mixture of small things causing the problem. But I don't know for sure as used two different garages.(should have gone to the specialist in the first place but warranty co. prefer you to take it back to the garage you purchased from)

ECU and airflow meter can be tested for a small fee, (both cost @£500 new, airflow meter on mine was repaired for @£120 + VAT).

After my experience, I would suggest you take your TVR to a specialist, it may save you money in the long run, as you could end up changing things for nothing.

To put your mind at ease, my Chimarea is now running as sweet as, and better than before with no hint of the previous trouble.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
