Hey all

Some time ago, I briefly owned a 97P Chim500. More or less everything that's discussed on these forums that could go wrong did go wrong within 3 months, and as I'd bought privately, I got miffed and sold it. I then had an Elise for 18 months. I had a few probs with the Lotus, but missed the TVR. After persuaded the wife and the bank manager, I bought a 2000W Chim450 from Chris Neils in Northwich.

I've had a few probs in my first 1000 miles. Namely a new stepper unit (no shock there), a fuel pump, a faulty drivers door mechanism (wouldn't open) and an ill-fitting window. Funnily enough, this morning my speedo decided to stop working. I searched the forums, but before coming on I gave the car a quick spin. The speedo seems to be working now so I'm assuming it was moisture or stuck!

However, there is one thing that's worrying me slightly. I'm hearing an intermittent whiny buzzing sound (?) coming from the rear quarters. Didn't know whether it was fuel pump vibration or something hydraulic, but I'm guessing. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Spooky

Spooky, "They all do that Sir"
It's the fuel pump, our whines sometimes, sometimes it doesn't, it does it more when the tank is getting low on fuel and it's been doing it since we bought it in April 2001.

HTH.

Yup, second that. I've got a 96 P 4.5 and I get the whining/buzzing noise too. Worse when low on fuel and it's a warm day. Nothing to worry about

Thanks for that.

Thinking back, I think I only noticed it when I had the fuel pump replaced. Still, when I heard it the first time I thought I had a fly or bluebottle trapped in the car somewhere!!! *embarrassed*

I have a bit of a whining noise while driving,I thought it was my diff

But then as I've just got it, I'm still paranoid as Mrs Evo will testify.
