I have decided this winter to deal with the stone chips on the bonnet. I have asked the bodyshop to price for the bonnet only as the rest of the front is ok. They are however concerned about whether they can get a good match and are suggesting that the whole of the front end should be done. Has anybody had any recent experience with dealing with this matter?

I think this is correct, they do up to the doors so they can blend it in so you can't see. If you just did the bonnet and there was even a tiny mis-match it would stick out.

I really depends on the colour, I had a scratch on my car so first they resparyed the door but couldnt get it to match, ended up getting a complete respray

had a bit of a front end incident (won't bore you with the details) and that ended up with a telephone conversation with TVR (with the chap that actually sprayed the car! (and its 12 years old!)) an exact paint code and they sprayed the front end of bonnet only and you couldn't tell where it starts and stops!

Does anyone know the ball park figure for a full re-spray - also does the colour have any effect on the price? - i have a Chimaera in BMW Avus Blue.

All depends on the colour. If you give me your paint code I should be able to let you know if that colour will match in with old paintwork.

I notice from your profile mikes3 that your S2 is white which might be easier to match. My colour is Halcyon Atlantis which is a blue/green pearlescent paint(great to look at) but I suspect not so easy to match, so I think the others may be correct in saying I need a complete front end respray. I think the cost is going to be too much and really the stone chips aren't that bad, well not worth spending a £1000 on. So I will just keep on using the touch up paint.

I've just been looking into this ( mine is Avus Blue too) and the local respected bodyshop ( there's a few I don't respect ) said that with it being a pearl he would want to paint right up to the door line - couldn't guarantee it if I wanted just the nose done. Was quoted for whole of the front, a crack repaired behind the boot hinge and a few odd chips here and there around the back - £850 inc
Not bad I thought
