hello everyone, I have just brought my first TVR Chimera, 4L HC 2 weeks ago and already I love it !!. I have never owned a TVR before and I found your site, which I have found already to be invaluable. I live in the Dudley area, my car is metalic Blue. I have no history with the car. I did a deal with a friend of mine. I had a Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo,, 1993, which I paid £5,500 for and I did a straight swap for the Chimera which I did not think was a bad deal !!!. The bloke told me he paid 9K for the Chimera, as it was listed Catergory D - possibly stolen recovered at some point. The car is very clean and straight with no faults. It has done 52,000 miles. Do you all think this was a good deal ? Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Regards
Andy.

Hello there and welcome to the world of pleasure. Be careful on those wet roads though.

TVR & wet road =

TVR & dry road =

Chimaera for £5500, I don't think you can go wromg!!, Well done mate!! Do you know when it was last serviced??, If not I would have a full check over and service done by a good independant. Not really any need for a main dealer as you have no service history.
Apart from that enjoy it and keep the shiny side up!!!

Personally, I would be more worried about why on earth he would want to swap a Chim' for a Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo!

Sounds like an unstable sort of a guy to me...

erm, that doesn't work- on an M plate it's either '94 or '95

A more cynical man might suggest that this is where it all begins to unravel...

However, it's possible that the chassis was built in late '93 and the car was first registered in the '94 M period. Quite what it was doing in between is anyone's guess.

Or perhaps it had a private plate on and was re-registered when the original owner sold it. After 8-20 months. I know, but it's possible.

There's always an innocent explanation. As well as a less innocent one. It's up to you to decide which you believe. Remember, you're not only missing the history from when your mate owned it, but also from anything before he bought it.

At the end of the day, though, as long as the engine doesn't fall out and the wheels don't rattle too much then now that you've got it it's probably best not to worry too much. Have fun.
