HELP... A new owner with a problem.

Proudly showing off my Pink Chimaera to the neighbour ( http://community.webshots.com/user/emleytvr ), turned the key in the lock and the whole mechanism left its collar and fell into the rear wing with the vehicle still alarmed and imobilised. Cutting a long story short, I have botched it short term but I can't sort it properly. It looks like the whole mechanism is held bayonet fashion into the collar, but
a) I havn't got enough fingers to hold it together to get it back into the collar and into the bayonet.
b) Am I missing something... in more ways than one.
c) How does it activate the poxy little microswitch to de-activate the alarm imobiliser
Can't see how, but it worked great until it fell apart

Any clues guys

Regards Emley of Yorkshire

Not sure about the whole 'how do you put it all back together' bit but to set, and unset the alarm using the key you need to........
Put key in hole
Turn 90 degrees anti clockwise
push down
turn 180 degrees clockwise
you should see the indicators flash and maybe even the alarm chirp
return key to start position and remove
All from memory so might be a little out, but I think it's in your handbook anyway.
The lock in a Vauxhall unit, as found in the boot lid of Calibras amoung a few other places if you get really stuck a Vauxhall dealer 'might' be able to help

Thanks for the info raceboy.

I had the basic operation bit sorted out...
And it worked exactly as you described... Until it fell apart.

Do you know how the collar is secured into the wing?
Is it mechanically fixed? or is it bonded into the fibreglass?
I can't see any mechanical fixing, but if I am missing something, and it can be removed, I may be able to re-build the whole assembly on a bench.

Thanks again
