Have looked through the search to no avail. My rack has a large amount of play in it and is now becoming a little difficult to drive on any surface. I can move my steering wheel about 1-2 inches each way before anything happens!!!!yikes (yes it is a little nerve-racking). It is definately the rack end and not the UJ's/track rod ends etc... So, my question is, where can I get the rack refurbished(still in situ) in the Wirral area and how much do you think I will be looking to pay?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Hi Steve

I cannot remember their name at the moment but if you phone Silverstone Performance they will give you the name and number of a superb rack refurb company in Leicestershire.

Their contracted courier will collect and deliver your rack for a very reasonable price.

The TVR PAS rack really is a specialist job so I wouldn't trust it to any normal rack refurb company.

Have you checked if all the play is on one side?

Never had one of these racks to bits but on some racks the tie rods are held on with screw cups. If that is the case and one is coming undone it could be the problem.

That would also mean it could come off completely at any time whilst driving yikes

I believe the chap who did all the rebuilds in Bristol Ave is now operational in Blackpool? Try asking some of the ex factory guys trading around there, sure they'll point you at him.

Correc,t he's doing them for TVR in the Wesham 'Barn'. Try Speaking to Paul or Heath at X-Works in Kirkham for details.

Just a quickie for my information, can anybody tell me how much their steering wheel moves before encountering any restrictions. This is with engine off and wheels on floor? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm a big advocate of Kiley Clinton in Birmingham, they're the only company (out of 4) that managed to stop my rack leaking.

Returned mine with play in it.

Sent it back and they admitted they couldn't eliminate the play so gave me a refund!

Just to add, KC couldn't fix my rack, if it's worn, it's worn, no parts!

Is the rack bespoke TVR? I would have thought it would have been from something else? However I bow to you chaps better knowledge.

yes I think someone managed to get a Scooby PAS rack to fit, there might be more mileage in that as spares dry up.
