Hey everyone...

Any ideas if the button to lock the doors should have a light/LED? I've just bought my old Chim from 5yrs ago (YAY!) but for the life of me I cannot remember if there was a green light or something on it.

If there should be... anyone managed to change the bulb? How did you do it?

Cheers for any help

Yes indeedy! I had her in 2004 and was searching/dreaming PH classifieds on Tuesday evening and saw her. So I took the chance and got her back again smile

Yeah I most certainly will

So don't supposed you know anything about that green light? How to get into it?

I havent tried as of yet but wondered what sort of job I am getting myself into.

The green LED only comes on when you press the button on the knob to lock the doors internally.

I'm pretty sure it does not come on with the vehicle lights.

As to getting in to fix/replace, I can't advise. The knurled door release is held onto the shaft by a 1.5 mm allen screw - but that's the limit of my knowledge.

the wiring to this button can be exposed by removing the centre tunnel top cover. first check i suppose would be that it has a live supply. it activates a similar solenoid to the door lock mechanism, and it all looks relatively straightforward when exposed. Good luck!

The light only comes on when you push it (lock the doors)

It wont work if the doors are not shut correctly.

Mine also didn't work when the passenger window was down.

I tested it last night when I picked the car up. It locks as its supposed to do but just doesnt light up when pressed/activated.

I will get into it when I get back from my Hols.

Thanks for all your advice and help.

This only lights up green when the doors are locked and the ignition is on however on my 94 chim the light worked fine until one of the door lock solinoids went duff, i had to fit a new one which was a later type, locked fine but the light never worked after that.
I did later on manage to do a slight mod to the wiring to get it back working.

Yeah had a look this evening and it looks like a bit of a b**ch of a job. I think I will get a manual and have a look on how to tackle this properly.
