Coolant levels
Discussion
Hi Again,
Just a quick question on Water coolant levels. Checked the level last night, and the level in the reservior tank (metal reservoir tank on dr side at front of engine i think?) was virtually at the bottom.
Is this correct, or should the level be higher (i.e. half way up like on all the other cars i have had.
Also, is there a special procedure to refill, or do you just fill straight from the reservoir.
Thanks in advance

If you have the twin tank model (post serpentine, which as a 500 I think you must), then it runs something like this;
Fill the lower tank to halfway up. Put the cap back on.
Undo the brass cap on the higher one, and fill to the brim. Undo the radiator bleeding cap (on the top of the radiator on the off-side) to clear any airlock. Then close the radiator bleeder as soon as water comes out, make sure the top tank is full and then do it up. Finally check the level in the lower one again.
Sounds complicated, but actually isn't.

i thought you only had to do all that if there was no coolant in the header tank thus enabling air to enter the system.if theres still coolant in the tank you should just be able to fill it to 2 inches from the top.(or so i hope cos thats what i've been doing.i always check mine after every blast ,its surprising how much they use).hope this is of help.
