I went to look for the ciggy lighter so i could plug in the trickle charger thingy and the strangest thing I couldn't find it, where is it usually located - there is a stainless dash fitted so i wondered whether it was a casualty in the process.
Secondly the clutch pedal has gone all floppy and barely engages a gear when its cold (it seems to be much better when its warmed up after a few miles but not 100%)- is this just a cable tension/adjustment thing or something more sinister - any advice seuqnece of things to check gratefully received
Cheers

Ciggie lighter - door arm. Clutch is probably a hydraulic fluid leak. Usually master. Remove inspection cover and see if there is any fluid left. Normaly deposits in the footwell. If dry could be a slave.

Not in mine.
From the front of the driver's-door pocket I have:
Wing mirror adjustment buttons
A small (2-3") pocket
Ciggie lighter
Longer pocket
Ciggie lighter is a must have accessory for me. It's impossible to light up with the top down at anything above a crawl with a gas lighter.

sorry, my description was crap. mine is the same as yours. only difference being that i have ashtrays higher up the door near the wingmirror.
and yes, ciggie lighter is crucial - the radar detector needs it to run, and also as you say lighting a ciggie on the move is impossible with the roof down without it! in fact, when i first went to use mine i noticed it had never been used before to light a fag! the car was 10 years old and I was the first owner to use the fag lighter

And for an extra point what are the ashtrays originally out of?
No idea - they're just a cheap semicircle of black plastic that rotates out when you push it. If you look at the Leven website you'll get the idea, though their pic will of course have an ally front stuck on.
In the Griff they're in the top of the door panel, just below the window near the front. I'd guess that Chimps are the same?

Not sure if ashtrays sound any good though...

High frequency sound is very directional so all that nice HF will be going about 2 feet in front of your nose... probably still better than nothing though.
Better than a pair of particularly Naff plastic ashtrays in any event..
