Indcator/alarm problem
Discussion
heres one for you - very occasionaly during the summerwhen i disengaged the alarm/immobiliser the n/s indicator lights (all three) would stick on - sometimes took several set/unset attempts to get them out. didnt bother too much about it, thought it was a TVR 'quirk'!
had to go into the boot for a tool last night (bloody freezing)and when i went to reset the indicators jammed on again - this time, however, no amount of unsetting/resetting, ignition on/off, indicators/hazards on/off - every combination i could think of, would put them off! car is dry in a garage with optimate conditioner on a good battery.
gave up and pulled a fuse to put the lights off!
any ideas anyone???

I had exactly this on my earlier Chim. Main dealer said it sounded like I needed a new alarm brain box !. Ended up going to my local ICE centre, having spoken to them earlier about the problem, delivered the car to them, complete with dash top removed to provide them with access, and they disconnected the appropriated relay/sender unit which flashed the nearside indicators. Ok, so I then only had the indicators flash on the drivers side when I set/unset the alarm, but that is far less annoying/ embarrassing than having one side of indicators remaining on when parked.
There are two relays inside the alarm unit that pulse the indicators when the alarm either goes off or is set/unset. When one of these relays sticks what happens is exactly what you describe.
The easiest cheapest solution is the cut the wire between the alarm and the indicators on that side. This also means when the alarm goes off it will only flash on one side. One some alarms the two indicator pulse wires are fused in which case removing the fuse on the offending side will do the same job, depends on the make of alarm etc. Biggest job taking the dash top off, the rest is easily done.
