2 things
1) can anyone, any Chim owners in the abingdon /oxford fancy a run out and
2) can recommend a local mobile mechacic in the abingdon / oxford area - I checked the clutch master cyliner and its empty - somethings arai and although i have the manual I don;t have the exeperience to spot where the probs are- the car won't goi into gear so its not going no-where till i get some help. Hopefully somone who is used to servicing cars should be able to ID the root cause fairly quickly (I guess one master cylinder pretty much like the next in principle) they can then remove offending article (It could just be a seal Kit) , I can take it to dealer and get the right part and then get it fitted. Also does anyone know rough prices involved for parts eg cluth master cyliner , slaves etc (what ever they may be).

PS bout of muppetry 2 - started the car in the garage to warm the engine (thought clutche may work), shut the car doo and it locked itself with the engine running - the air turned blue, I managed to get in though - wish I had read some of the "how to get into your car" threads would have saved 15 mins of pure hell.

Replacement clutch master cylinder is about 60 notes, but I believe you can get a seal kit for it, if the bore isn't scored.

Muppetry #2 - I've done that, you don't half feel daft.

Could equally be at the other end or a broken pipe joining the two.

Master seal kit from your local Lucas dealer, SP2102 cost £6.20.

Good point, have a look at the pedal and footwell - if the leak is at the master cylinder, then there will probably be some clutch fluid residue on the pedel and below it.
