5th Gear Problems Strike Again!
Discussion
My '00 Chimaera 500 had a new T5 Box fitted at just 5200 miles when 5th gear packed up all together. 6000 trouble free miles later it has just returned from its early 12000 mile service (2 days and 100 miles ago) with another gearbox problem.
When changing into 5th (from 4th) at anything above about 3000rpm, the gearbox 'graunches' and an associated vibration is felt through the gearstick. I have read that this is not altogether uncommon and that it is usually caused by a broken or damaged clutch arm. I also note that 'Xain' had an identical problem straight after his car's 36000 mile service. Is this pure coincidence or can this problem arise due to gearbox oil change, clutch bleeding or whatever else is done during a service?
If anyone knows anything on the matter, please let me know. I'm fairly sure it will be a warranty fix of some sort next week, and at least 5th gear serves as nothing but an economy overdrive for my normal Sunday afternoon blast so shouldn't be missed!!!!

I should point out that mine was spotted at the 36000 mile service, otherwise it would have broken shortly afterwards.
The problem seems to be if the clutch gets heavy, it wears out the release arm. This means that the arm has to move further for the same clutch action. Basically I think the clutch doesn't disengage enough and 5th gear catches as a result at revs.
My new clutch fixed the lot, and it is jolly nice to use too. The only nasty was the bill which was 600 quid. :-( Not funny.
