...where my Chimeara normally sits!

I dropped my 500 off at Austec this morning.

Then had the phone call from Mike as to what needs 'sorting'.

New rad
Sump gasget
Rocker cover gasgets
Re-weld exhaust hanger

on top of the original service, RR session and 4-wheel alignment.

and I'm still worried about the low oil pressure!

Tell me it's all gonna be okay people...

...please

I don't think the extras will be too bad, compared to the RR and service. And it will four fewer things to worry about!

I'm quite a realist, although this is the first car that I've ever entrusted to someone else to service, Mark came over every well and I've heard nothing but good reports about Austec, so I'm confident that I'll be pleased with the results and happy with the service.

If anything is worrying me it's the low oil pressure, tales of worn cam bearings are playing on my mind, however I'm yet to be convinced. The car runs 15psi steady hot and 30ish cold, could this still be a dodgy sender?

I bought the TVR because I was fed up with worrying about the twin -turbos on my Zed and their life expectancy, I'd be very dissapointed if the good old, trusty Buick V8 lets me down and bancrupts me.

Sounds about exactly right to me. TADTS!

Repeat at least 50 times daily...
"High volume, low pressure. High volume, low pressure."

Your oil pressure looks a little low. Mine (Griff) was reading about the same as yours, then started to read lower.
As I was pretty concerned about it I got Mole Valley to stick a mechanical gauge on it to check. Result was engine ok, sender shot.
With the new sender it reads (engine warm)30 psi @ idle/40-45 psi at higher rpm.

Doesn't sound like too much work to do. Also oil pressure gauges can be wrong too - I'm sure the guys at Austec will be able to rig a manual gauge up to the engine to check it for you.

Mine's been at Austec since Monday - nothing major, just a service, reseal sump n bits. Picking it up this morning. I'll say hi to your car for you.

Thanks Trevor, I have full confidence in Austec. I'm sure it'll be completely sorted when I pic it up tomorrow - hopefully.

Yep, do say hello, it's the Cooper Green one I had a quick look at yous when I was there yesterday, how much of an improvement is that brake upgrade? The car looked very sweet!

As everyone seems to be talking about them these days (I blame Podie), I'm going to recommend a re-brand to Ted...

The Dog "Delboy" is fine! He looks more scarey than he is!
His sisters are actually the ones to look out for, they scare the life out of me!!

Anyway Austec are grand and will certainly be getting all of my work!

Can you give Big Al directions to Austec please Mel, I could direct him in (ooer) but don't know the road names...Crawley Industrial Estate etc etc.

Big Al, perhaps we could meet up for a drink or two if you come up this way Btw, where have you been, you abandoned me to those guys on my chimaera thread!!!!

Sorry it felt like that.

PC when Bang last week, was able to get by in limp mode (oooeerrr) during the days.
But evenings and the weekend was I out of action.

I saw that my good buddies looked after you though!

As for the good idea, it'll be a month or so, as I would like to test drive a T350T!

Although IMHO you will find that Sainsbury's does a superior line in men...tastefully expensive but better quality probably cos they're not past their sell-by date and been left on the shelf!!

Thanks.

Well first I had EBC discs/pads (std size). They were complete crap. Worked once hot, but useless on the road. Then I changed to Ferodo DS2500 pads all round - much much better at all temps. Thing is, the std brakes are weak for a 150mph+ Ferrari chaser and the stopping power was not good enough for my liking, nor was the rear bias a nice thing to have when pressing on.

285mm discs and 4 pot calipers are what you saw - ideal upgrade IMO - I'm no racing driver so bigger brakes would be a waste. Not too much front bias, lots of braking power and no fade on the track whatsoever (I'm running DOT 5.1 fluid and braided hoses all round too). The car feels much safer now.

Crikey Cosmos - pull yourself together, £7 from a motor factors, 2 mins to fit. Blue side repeaters on a Cosmos Blue Chimaera are Bling! (first time I've used that 'word')

I think big dogs are great to keep burglars and pikeys out. Helps keep Pikey mits off our motors.
