Quick question for you all... Can you squeeze a pair of skis into a Chimaera? I'm fairly tall (6'2"), so my skis are going to be a little longer than most... As I mentioned in another post, it won't stop me buying one if they don't, it'd just be useful to know...

Cheers!

Well I replyed in the original thread, but if you've not got speakers in the vent holes I imagine they could go through these

Hmm, well I'm not too sure about whether there are speakers in place yet, due to not having found my own personal Chim yet... I'll just have to wait and see...

You should just be able to see the holes in the bulkhead in this picture.......

This is the usual place where people mount rear speakers, some people then put a single vent in the centre to allow the boot/cabin to vent, or the speakers can be mounted on poles, but thats not ideal for sound quality

Yes, I do see them, but surely there's not enough space between the bulkhead itself and the seats to angle them through somewhere? Or are the speaker vents far enough above the seat height that this isn't the case?

Edited to add: What I really need to do as well is go and have a look at one in the flesh with this in mind... It's never even crossed my mind before... Why should it?

Get a Chimaera with 6x9 rear speakers - the holes will be bigger then - unscrew the speakers and leave them on the parcel shelf for the duration of your ski trip (maybe not).

Or take up snowboarding.

Actually, what about one of those soft type roofrack things that ties to the roof. It should go on the solid section OK and a couple of sets of skis should be too heavy (keep speeds sensible though).

Or, just be a hero and go roof-down

The temporary ski racks I've seen all attach magnetically, no use for a tiv

If you could get a second hand roof you could drill holes and use the good roof for the rest of the year

This would/will be my option (driving to the alps in Jan) but then I may be getting a lift

If I come across a spare roof I'll make one anyway and hire it out

OTOH Snow blades would fit on the parcal shelf

Someone here has a Griff and they use a special attachment to transport their surf board around, and apparantly is good for up to 71mph

They are some sort of straps which go around the hard section of the roof - it may be worthwhile asking in the General TVR forum?

WOuld be very interested to hear about that surf board method coz me bird has gone surf mad recently. If she can put her board on the roof of the Chim, she might let me keep it longer.

LOL! Go looking for a Chim with the criteria being speaker size? Methinks not!

I don't think there's any way you could get skis in through the speaker holes - they'd just hit the back of the seats.

If you want to carry skis really badly, you could buy a spare roof panel and have it modified with anchor points...? There must be some feature around the middle of the skis that you could use to lock or clamp them into place.

Up to three pairs I think! It would look like the car was doing a 'snowplough'. Next week, Telemark

My skis are 184cm long - I measured the distance from the bottom of the passenger footwell diagonally across the top of the transmission tunnel to the rear targa bit in my Griff and I reckoned they would just fit in.

Though to be fair I haven't tried to actually do it yet and you would have to take the roof on and off to get them in and out.

Also might be interesting for anyone in the passenger seat - hope you don't keep those edges too sharp !

how about opening the the velcro bit on each side of the roof and sliding them through, would only have a bit sticking out either side ( no more than the mirrors). might have to take the bindings of though.

Get a Sagaris and park it near the chalet and the whole gang can rack their skis. I think you can even stand 3 snow boards in the bonnet section
