Collect P reg 4.0 Chimaera on Saturday. Got the bible, read as many threads as possible on here (fantastic site - great people too). Is there anything I should ask the ex owner in particular - I don't want to be a muppet ten minutes after he has left, not knowing how to get in it, or something blindingly obvious to you experts?

Hooray for Wrinkly

As long as you know where the boot and bonnet release are. Oh, and the where switch that turns the dash lights off is. And whether the heater is on.

Who am I kidding, you won't care once you've got it. Happy hooning .

PS: You did do the cheek exercises I trust .

I trust you've already quizzed the "ex" owner to death already before agreeing to purchase..? accordingly not sure what to add..

All the best,
Matt.

Well done wrinkly. I'm in a similar boat as I got my new Chim last Friday. Here are some observations, tips, suggestions that I have picked up over the last week ;

o Check you know for certain how to operate the alarm/immobiliser, I couldn't get it started 5 mins after leaving the seller's place.
o Make sure you know how to operate ALL controls before setting off or you'll be fiddling with knobs and buttons whilst driving down the road.
o The Car will be full of condensation if its been left out for even a short while (AFAIK this is normal). Make sure you work out how to de-mist it !
o Make sure you spot how much go juice its got and regularly check it as it goes down at an alarming rate !
o Giving it lots of right boot will easily spin the rear wheels in the lower gears. I found this quite controllable and great fun, (make sure you’re pointing in a straight line tho !
o You'll probably hear all sorts of strange noises. I'm told this is normal !

o If you haven't had the car inspected before purchase and its not due a service soon then I strongly suggest you take it to a specialist for a once over ASAP.
o Try to be gentle with the clutch its got a lot of work to do with all that torque !
o If you nail it from a standing start and rev it hard in 1st/2nd/3rd you may soil your underware ! I found that it really flies, definitely quicker than I was expecting !
o You can't open the boot without the ignition on. This will catch you out at least 50 times !!!! if you're anything like me.
o If you lift the bonnet with a hot engine underneath, prepare for the sauna effect ! Also, the bonnet stay will be white hot !!!
o You may well open the passenger door 35 times when you get out !!! Spin the knob clockwise !
o Be very careful when placing the targa panel in the boot or you'll damage the paintwork around the boot.

Can't think of any more !!!!

Disclaimer ... I'm in no way an expert on Chimera's. The above is just what I've picked up in a week and 400 miles of motoring !!

Let us know how you get on. But only when you've finished driving and stopped grinning.

This probably sounds very silly, but do you know how to engage reverse?
Congratulations.

Congratulations on choosing a Chim, have loads of fun and watch the icy weather,I couldn't resist and took mine into work this morning.

Warning - Not driving it often enough can cause unrest.

Tell me about it. I've been working away overnight, and havn't seen my baby (or Mrs kdd ) until I got back this evening.
At least Mrs kdd has been looking it, and driving it. My turn again tomorrow
