Can anyone verify the 0-60 time of a 4.0 Ltr Chimaera please?

The figure quoted by TVR is 5.1 sec.

The motoring media do their own independent tests and have come up with a variety of results ranging from high 4's to low 6's.

I use "autocar" as the benchmark after all it`s been around a while they quote 0-60 5.2 secs, having owned one for a couple of years this is slightly optimistic IMHO as for high 4`s sorry

Is a 4 ltr Chimp quicker than a 4ltr Griff?

I think you'll find the Chimp is slower because its arms get in the way

IIRC the Griff is fractionally quicker, presumably because it's more aerodynamic. But in the real world figures are highly variable depending on the car, the driver, the road surface and the air temp.

As simpo above - but in my opinion, its the driver that makes the biggest difference. If you can honestly perfect the getaway then you can expect to see the manufacturers figures..... but, chances are (if you are normal driver) that you cant and therefore wont.

Oh, and if traffic light gran prixs are what you are interested in then I would suggest getting very friendly with the local "diff man" - cos you will eat them VERY quickly indeed. You have been warned.

Diff goes before clutch then? I suppose if you divide the number of racing starts you can do before one of these things goes ping, the unit cost per blat is quite high!

4ltr chimp will have cats
4ltr griff won't
got to make a bit of difference in the power?

0-60 times are not the greatest masure of a cars perfomance.
To get a good 0-60 time get a grippy bit of tarmac and super hot sticky tyres and somebody who knows how to get it off the line quickly without loads of wheelspin.

IMO A TVR diff/clutch will probably stand many many more flat out off the line drag strip type starts than a std 4x4. TVRs are relatively simple to get off the line quickly, feed a smidge of power to get the slightest of movement and nail the throttle. Time for another gear. Repeat.

Trying to get our TT off the line for an Audi quoted 0-60 is very tricky unless you don't have any mechanical sympathy. Esp since it has 6 bloody gears and first is too short to be any use.

I think 0-150 can be done in less than a mile.

May be wrong here, therefore IMHO etc , but I think the 5.0 figures where from the press car that may have more power than standard, or the 'actual' power dependant on what way you look at . It may have even been a little bit bigger than 5000cc as well. That said it is faster than 99% of machinery and the torque/urge goes on seemingly for ever. but it doesn't rev as sweetly as a 4ltr
