Mobil 1 5/50!?!

In the intrests of doing everything by the book +the fact that its already got 5/50 in it does anyone know where you can get it from? Do they still make it?
I'm in the Brentwood Essex area.

Oil is probably the main example where the book can be improved on. 'Book' says Mobil One 0/40, and if zero oil pressure is your thing, use it. Most TVR afficionados use Mobil 15/50, or Castrol 10/60, or similar.

If I'm not mistaken, thats pretty much what David Batty will put in it, unless you ask for different, you don't see to many people complaining on his door step..........

Not really sure which is best, lots of people have different views on this but my guess is that as long as you are using a good quality oil of the right viscosity (at least 10W/40)you should be OK.

When I got my chimaera from Fernhurst they recommended that I use the Mobil 1 15W/50 (you can get this from most of the big Halfords). I reckon that they know more about these things than me so have just used this since.

Mobil 1 0w-40 is like bats piss. Keep away from it. Mobil 1 RS 15w-50 is available from Halfauds and is highly recommended. The 5w-50 you can only get from France and is good value at about £20 for 4L.

And standard Mobil 1 (10w40 i think) is what my dealer uses, and I hardly burn any (1 litre/2000 miles) so I'm happy with that for now.

You are correct, the design is. However, it's construction, the materials, the pistons and other components etc. are all modern. Personally I use the French Mobil 1 5/50. and unlike you, I certainly wouldn't put Duckhams 20W in it! Rich...
