Having taken to reading my way through Steve's bible I notice these were appearing on some Chims. Were they on all chims from day 1? If so, do they make any appreciable difference to cooling?

No.

Some say yes... some say no... some who said yes actually had lost them so there is a placebo effect!

They are cheap so if you want to try it try it but beware speed humps.

If you got one... be like scraping the bottom of the S all over again!

Do you have a problem at all with your bonnet flapping about on the left hand side at high speed?? If so then I would get one as this stops it completely. Only applies to pre-facelift bonnets. I replace mine every couple of months due to losing it!!. Without it anything over 110 and the bonnet lifts quite badly!! I've never had a problem with cooling when its been on or off so don't think it dramatically effects that but I do find it handles slightly better with it.
cheers

Took mine off on a speed bump going for an MOT and so when it was on the ramp, I had a look.

I think the rivets are 'designed' to 'pull out' when this happens - Offord put mine back on when it was serviced.

I'd have it put back on if you've got it but wouldn't bother buying a new 'un ...

I read something obout these a while back. Next time I was in at the dealer's I looked. Not one Chim or Cerb had one (including mine).

I stopped caring.

I succesfully made a splitter from plastic guttering, and after 3000 miles of abuse it is still in one piece and hasnt destroyed any bodywork. Makes some spectacular sounds when hitting bumps tho. Certainly improved high speed stability & bonnet bounce - but didnt notice any cooling benefit.

Have noticed the bonnet flapping a bit around 100 but I rarely go over this speed for licence saving reasons. Dont really want to find that over 110 on the way to Le Mans next year I have a bonnet shaking like Rolf Harris with the wobble board.
