I am at the point of buying this 98 4.0 Chim (Red).
Does anyone know anything about it.

Also, this will become my (only) everyday car (yes I know I must be mental but someone has to be) so my main concerns are mechanical reliability and security.
i.e. as long as it starts, opens, closes, locks and
alarms, I can probably work around the rest of the
problems if any.

I have a reasonable insurance deal sorted but if anyone can point me towards a specialist broker I will
give them a try.

Big Al.

Had mine now for about 14 months, drive it everyday! Bl**dy Magic! Oh

No problems so far! Touch Wood.

Even did 1400 miles in a fortnight touring around France in September, she didn't miss a heart beat.

Have done about 8000 miles since I got it, and the grin factor is still there.

I've had my '99 450 for almost a year now. Use it almost daily doing only 120 mls a week. Only problems have been a relay for the headlights and the stupid grin I keep arriving at work with.

As for insurance, none of the specialists would touch me until I'd done a year or 6000 mls (1st sports car) so had to go with the nodding dog which ain't cheap. If you can, get hold of sprint (TVR CC Mag) and look towards the back, full of insurance companies there.

Enjoy, and post pictures when you have it !!

Had my Chimaera for 10 days now, and love it! Obtained my insurance through Classic Line - very helpful indeed! Limited mileage, with UK and European breakdown cover, full continental insurance cover. I have six points on my licence (thanks Brunstom and friends) - all for £482, which I think is excellent value.

Good plan
Use my 98 400 every day with no problems other than envy.
Try Classicline for an insurance quote (01455 891330). They have just halved my renewal based on 7500 miles and a clean living past.
Good luck!

Did 19k miles in 23 months in a R reg 500 - no real problems to speak of - one of the most reliable cars I've owned. Got a really good workout most of the time - but well serviced therefore NO Problems.
