Hello eveyone,

I'm looking at buying a chimaera 400 but needed to know precisely what the turning circle is (some owners seem to complain about it). Could anyone give me the info (standard wheel size) ?

Thanks in advance !

Can't say I remember anyone actually asking for turning circle sizes but it can be reduced by using a little bit of rightfoot, a little bit of left foot braking and full lock

Can't tell you the size but I have the later std sized wheels 16" F&R and can confidently say it is worse than any other car I have driven.

it is absolute crap. Having said that, my old S3 was no better.

As Raceboy says, its a case of a heavy right foot and some full lock. Then it has a better turning circle than my Mondeo.

Get a wedge then!

My old 400SE had the turning circle of a London Taxi cab, it was brilliant.

For £10K you could get a nice SEAC.

It isn't the best turning circle in the world but if you were going to let this minor detail get between you and the purchase of a TVR you'd be crazy.

True!! And I turned a blind eye to the fact that it hasn't got PAS either...not a big deal for you boyz I know but put yourself in my shoes, it's like trying to manoeuvre a lump of concrete when parking

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately the solutions proposed so far are not applicable in my parking lot so I would really appreciate if any of you had the exact value (I'm even not asking it in cm, though I'am a froggy :-)).

To be honest if something like this is worrying you I'd seriously think about whether a TVR is the right sort of car for you
You can park a TVR in any space in any car park, it may take a little longer than Mr Micra, but you don't have to do it in one go, I take 2 or 3 shuffles to get in to my spot at work depending where the lorries are parked A TVR will fit around any multi-story car park you may have to back up a few times and take some strange lines to avoid the low sills but it can be done

Turning circle of '93 Chim 400 is 9.80m.

PAS - 2.2 turns lock to lock
Unassisted - 2.5 turns lock to lock

Hope this tech info will now enable you to go ahead with the purchase of your Chim

Can I go to the top of the class

I've never had any problems getting into a parking space, apart from my own inability (and that's generally on reverse parking) and the fact that it's a little hard to see out of.

It's certainly far better than the Alfa 156 GTA I tried, supertankers had a smaller turning circle than that thing.

Worst comes to the worst, get the car on a test drive and try it out.

well you should see my parking lot... I hae been driving a Porsche for a while now, and I think I am now rather experienced at.. parking it, at least :-), in this silly garage. My parking lot has a rather strange layout and I can tell you that there is really not much space left - thus my question...
But I feel more confident now that I see (thanks to cosmoschick !) that the chimaera is smaller and turns 'better' than the Porsche (believe it or not !)

You're not supposed to move the bollards. You're supposed to avoid them .
