Hi all

Had the clutch master cylinder replaced 3-4 months ago by a now defunct indie in brum. The cylinder was reported as scored.

The problem of the dropping clutch pedal has re-appeared and upon checking there was no fluid in the resevoir. Topped up but you have to pump the pedal to get any pressure which drops away over night. My wife is getting a bit ratty at pumping the pedal 20-30 times to drive it.

No leaks that I can see from the slave, back of the pedal or around the master.

Could ther be just a natural usage of the fluid and hence "just" an airlock?

Where can I get it looked at near sunny Shropshire this week before my wife goes back to work next week. Dont want to have to spend too many sheckels as the tax man says he wants some money and christmas has been a bit of a drain so main dealer is out.

Any help and sugestions greatly appreciated.

Are there any fluid marks on the drive?

If your putting that much in, it's got to be going somewhere!

Big Al

No fluid at all.

Have only put in what was needed to top up the resevoir once.

PS - Seems you have enough answers on your AV thread but I am what you might call a good saturday morning mechanic in AV work after being in the entertainment industry for a few years and then tinkering with my house to get it automated. Mail me if you need any advice

Coach Well if it's not leaking out then it's got to be topping up the system, perhaps a system bleed might be in order.

Just a thought is it was leaking out of the bottom of the reservoir would you spot the leak? or would it just be dripping in to the wing area?

Perhaps checking the underside connections might be in order!

Never done it, so don't ask!

Thanks for the offer on the audio stuff, seems I'm OK "in theory" at the mo it may be different in a couple of hours when I try it in practice.

Had the same fault on mine at the beginning of summer, had to replace the seals in the master cylinder (part no Lucas Girling SP2102)£6, and had to replace the slave cylinder too £18, not too dificuilt to do just a couple of bolts to undo and the preasure bleed.

hope all goes well

regards h

actually the footwell master cylinder seals were a bit backbreaking.
